Maths

The Mathematics Department aims to help all students build their confidence in using key skills in Mathematics, offer nationally accredited qualifications and raise the standard of numeracy across the curriculum.

 

In Key Stage 3 students follow the National Curriculum programmes of study. In Key Stage 4 there are a range of courses available to students. Each student will be entered for the relevant qualifications for their ability and career pathway.

 

There is a range of qualifications which will be considered from Functional Maths Entry Level 1 to 3 up to Functional Skills Levels 1 and 2 (which are GCSE equivalent). These are nationally accredited qualifications which ensure all students leave Marland with Key Skills in Mathematics at their correct level. For some students we may proceed onto GCSE at Foundation or Higher level to be completed in year 11.
